Dr. Hans-Jörn Weddige is a German engineer cum economist who currently heads the Climate Funds Strategy department at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe; Germany’s largest steel producer, which has embarked on a transition path to climate neutrality in a challenging environment. It is part of the thyssenkrupp AG with activities in many industries, such as water electrolysers or green plant technologies for base chemicals such as methanol or urea. Previously he coordinated all climate and energy policies for the thyssenkrupp Group globally. He holds relevant positions such as Chair of the Environment and Energy Committee of Business at OECD (BIAC), formal BINGO observer at the Technical Executive Committee of the UNFCCC process or Advisory Board member of the Dialogue on Climate Economics of the German Ministry for Education and Research. He is a vice chair of the VDMA Committee on Energy and Climate and a member of the VDMA P2X4A Board.
