Andreas Widl (60) graduated in Physics with a diploma from the TU München. He started his career at Mannesmann Pilotentwicklung. Major results were the development of the first GPS-based road pricing system, 30 patents and a PhD in Physics. He joined GE Capital as Business Development and Sales Director. He was appointed Executive VP, Asia President and acting CTO of the Swiss Oerlikon Group. Andreas Widl was CEO of Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum, Cologne, leading the company to record profitability. He joined SAMSON AG and was appointed CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board in April 2015, transforming the company into a process- and data-driven industrial enterprise. With Project MainChange, SAMSON currently undertakes a 500 Mio. Euro investment in Germany for 2000 employees. Andreas Widl is engaged in 10+ start-up companies and actively promotes the German Mittelstand.
